Tours

Tours of Water and Wastewater Treatment facilities are available to schools, organizations and the general public.  Gather friends and colleagues to learn about the various processes used in our Water and Wastewater facilities to protect public health and our local environment.

Hundreds of Greater Sudbury residents and students of all ages have taken tours of our treatment facilities.  For students in secondary schools or post secondary institutions, tours can also be tailored to provide additional focus on the science and math behind treatment processes or specific chemistry, biology or engineering topics.

City staff can also discuss potential careers in water & wastewater with students, including the need in our facilities for licensed operators, millwrights, electricians, instrument technicians, mechanics, computer & data specialists and engineers.

Groups can book a tour at any of the following Water/Wastewater facilities in the City of Greater Sudbury:

  • Sudbury Wastewater Treatment Plant (Kelly Lake Road)
  • Wanapitei Water Treatment Plant
  • David Street Water Treatment Plant

These tours are FREE and can be made available in English or French.  It is recommended that students or residents participating in tours be 8 years of age or older.  Residents or schools are invited to book a tour by contacting 311.
