GOVA Routes and Schedules

Schedule Updates effective April 18, 2020

GOVA Transit is responding to declining ridership and the need for physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting Saturday, April 18, 2020, public transit will reduce frequency of service on most routes and suspend some routes until further notice.

Updated routes and schedules are available below. Printed schedules will be mailed on request by calling 705-675-3333 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

  • All schedules have adjusted times for the arrival and departure of buses.
  • Early morning start times remain available.
  • Frequency is reduced during peak times on most routes.
  • Some routes end earlier at end of day.
  • GOVA Zone connection times are adjusted to match new schedules.
  • GOVA Plus specialized transportation services are not affected by these changes.
  • The following routes are temporarily suspended: Route 4 Laurentian University via Paris, Route 21 Grandview Commuter, Route 22 Grandview Local and Route 23 New Sudbury Local.
  • Route 101 Lively will no longer travel to the South End Transit Hub at Walmart. Buses will travel directly to the Downtown Transit Hub.
  • Routes 105B and 105C to Valley East and Capreol are combined into a single route. Buses serve Outremont Boulevard and Blezard Valley only on trips travelling to the Downtown Transit Hub.

2020 Holiday Schedules

GOVA Zone Update effective May 1, 2020 

Effective Friday, May 1, 2020, the phone number for the GOVA Zone service provider will change for the following routes: 
Dowling/Onaping/Levack via route 104
Regional Road 15 travelling via route 104
Regional Road 15 travelling via route 105
The new number to book is 705-670-2300, and the service will now be provided by a GOVA Plus vehicle. This is a temporary measure during the COVID-19 Emergency Declaration.
 

Route 1 Main Line

High frequency South End to New Sudbury Centre

Travel pattern:

South End Walmart to New Sudbury Centre via Long Lake Road, Paris Street, Notre Dame Avenue and LaSalle Boulevard. Includes a stop at the Downtown Transit Hub, 9 Elm Street.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

NEW effective April 18, 2020: Schedules have moved back five minutes. Service ends earlier at end of day. Buses run every 15 minutes between 6:10 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. then every 30 minutes until the end of the service day.

Key Destination:

Travels to the main entrance of Health Sciences North every 15 minutes during peak periods.

Travel pattern:

Downtown Transit Hub, 9 Elm Street to Cambrian College via the Kingsway and Barry Downe Road. Includes a stop at New Sudbury Centre to connect with other routes.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

NEW effective April 18, 2020: Buses run every 30 minutes from 6:30 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. then every 45 minutes until the end of the service day. Due to end of school year, high frequency morning service is no longer available.

Route 3 Laurentian University via Regent

Sudbury Outpatient Centre, Extendicare York, Health Sciences North

Travel pattern:

Downtown Transit Hub, 9 Elm Street to Laurentian University via Elgin Street, Brady Street, Riverside Drive, Regent Street, Ramsey View Court and Walford Road. Includes a stop at the main entrance to the Sudbury Outpatient Centre on trips leaving downtown. Passengers entering and leaving the Outpatient Centre can take this bus. Includes a stop at Health Sciences North but does not stop at the main entrance.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

NEW effective April 18, 2020: Buses run every 30 minutes between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. then every 60 minutes until the end of the service day. High frequency service during peak times is no longer available until further notice.  

Key Destination:

Extendicare York and Sudbury Outpatient Centre. Also serves the Larch Street Medical Centre when travelling to the Downtown Transit Hub from Laurentian University.

Downtown Sudbury to Moonlight at Bancroft, Finlandia Village

Travel pattern:

Downtown Transit Hub, 9 Elm Street to Bancroft Drive and Moonlight Road via Van Horne Street, Howey Drive and Bancroft Drive. Summer route serves Moonlight Beach.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

NEW effective April 18, 2020: First bus to Downtown Transit Hub leaves Bancroft at Moonlight at 5:50 a.m. then runs every 60 minutes between 6:15 a.m. and the end of the service day. High frequency service during peak times is no longer available until further notice.

Travel pattern:

Downtown Transit Hub, 9 Elm Street to New Sudbury via Kathleen Street, Frood Road, Collège Boréal, LaSalle Boulevard and and New Sudbury Centre.

Due to the end of the school year, this route does not travel to Cambrian College from April 18, 2020 to the end of August.

NEW effective April 18, 2020: First bus to Downtown Sudbury leaves Dow Drive at 5:46 a.m. then runs every 60 minutes between 6:15 a.m. and the end of the service day. High frequency service during peak times is no longer available until further notice. This bus will not connect with Route 101 Lively until further notice.

Downtown Transit Hub, 9 Elm Street to South End Walmart via Wembley Drive, Hyland  Drive and Regent Street.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

NEW effective April 18, 2020: Buses run every 60 minutes between 6:15 a.m. and the end of the service day. High frequency service during peak times is no longer available until further notice. 

Key Destination:

This bus stops at the corner of Southview Drive and Kelly Lake Road to connect with GOVA Zone partner taxi companies. GOVA Zone service is available on Southview Drive.

Loop to/from New Sudbury Centre

Travel pattern:

Loops to and from New Sudbury Centre via LaSalle Boulevard, Falconbridge Highway, Old Falconbridge Road, Graywood Drive and Lansing Avenue.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

NEW effective April 18, 2020: First bus leaves New Sudbury Centre at 5:35 a.m.  then runs every 60 minutes to the end of the service day. High frequency service during peak times is no longer available until further notice. Passengers taking Route 1 Main Line must transfer to Route 20.

This is a neighbourhood route connecting residents with high frequency buses at New Sudbury Centre.

Downtown Transit Hub, 9 Elm Street to Sudbury Tax Centre via Kathleen Street, Melvin Avenue, Bruce Avenue and Cambrian Heights. Return trip via Notre Dame Avenue.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

Travel pattern:

Loop to and from Downtown Transit Hub, 9 Elm Street, via Regent Street (south of Elm), Isabel Street, Willard Avenue, Victoria Street, Spruce Street and Elm Street.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

NEW effective April 18, 2020: Buses run every 60 minutes starting at 6 a.m. to the end of the service day. High frequency service during peak times is no longer available until further notice.

This is a neighbourhood route connecting residents with high frequency buses at the Downtown Transit Hub.

Travel pattern:

Serving the Flour Mill from the Downtown Transit Hub, 9 Elm St., via Cochrane to Mont Adam, Murray, Bond, Percy, King Street, Mabel Avenue, MacKenzie Street and Ste. Anne Road.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

Every 60 minutes between 6:30 a.m. and the end of the service day.

Key Destination(s):

This is a neighbourhood route connecting residents with high frequency buses at the Downtown Transit Hub. Due to steep hills in the neighbourhood, routes vary in the summer and the winter.

Loop to and from South End Transit Hub (Walmart) via Long Lake Road, MacIsaac Drive, Loach's

NEW effective April 18, 2020: First bus leaves South End Transit Hub at 6:25 a.m.  then runs every 60 minutes to the end of the service day. High frequency service during peak times is no longer available until further notice. Passengers taking Route 1 Main Line must transfer to Route 28.

Route 101 Lively

Downtown Sudbury, Lorne Street

Travel pattern :

Downtown Transit Hub, 9 Elm Street to Lively via Lorne Street and Copper Cliff. GOVA Zone connections via partner taxi companies from Naughton and Whitefish.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

NEW effective April 18, 2020: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Route 101 Lively will no longer travel to the South End Transit Hub (Walmart). Passengers travelling to the South End must transfer to the Route 1 Main Line at the Downtown Transit Hub. There is no longer a transfer in Copper Cliff.

Buses serve M.R. 24 Lively only on trips departing from the Downtown Transit Hub. Buses leaving from the Naughton Community Centre to Downtown do not turn onto M.R. 24.

First bus leaves Naughton Community Centre to Downtown Sudbury at 6:15 a.m. via M.R. 55 and Mikkola subdivision and then runs every two hours to the end of the service day.

Passengers travelling to Little Creighton or other destinations on M.R. 24 must board buses departing from Downtown Sudbury.

Route 102 Garson

Travel pattern:

Serves Church Street and Orell Street coming into Garson then follows Falconbridge Highway and LaSalle Boulevard to New Sudbury Centre. Does not travel into Falconbridge. GOVA Zone connections via partner taxi companies to and from Falconbridge and Skead.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

Residents of Skead can call 90 minutes ahead for any GOVA Zone connection time highlighted in purple on the attached schedule.

Residents of Falconbridge can call 90 minutes ahead for a GOVA Zone connection from their home to the Route 102 Garson bus from Monday to Friday at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. and on weekends at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

Residents of Falconbridge also have the option of meeting a GOVA Zone shuttle at a stop at Lindsley and Rix or Longyear and Rix from Monday to Friday at 5:34 a.m., 6:49 a.m., 3:48 p.m. and 5:18 p.m. Door-to-door GOVA Zone service is not available at these times in Falconbridge.

Loop to New Sudbury Centre

Travel pattern:

Loop to and from New Sudbury Centre via the Kingsway, Second Avenue, Bancroft Drive, Marcus Drive and Barry Downe Road.

Frequency (Based on Monday to Friday Travel):

NEW effective April 18, 2020: First bus leaves Coniston to New Sudbury Centre at 6:25 a.m. then runs every 90 minutes to the end of the service day. High frequency service during peak times is no longer available until further notice.

NEW effective April 18, 2020: First buses leave Chelmsford Mobility Hub (Place Bonaventure) to Downtown Sudbury at 6:14 a.m. and 6:44 a.m. then every 75 minutes to the end of the service day.

First buses leave the Downtown Transit Hub to Chelmsford at 7 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. then every 75 minutes to the end of the service day.

High frequency service during peak times is no longer available until further notice.

Buses serve Outremont Boulevard and Blezard Valley only on trips travelling to the Downtown Transit Hub. Buses travel directly to Val Caron, Val Therese, Hanmer and Capreol. GOVA Zone connections via partner taxi companies from Garson, Chelmsford and Municipal Road 15.

NEW effective April 18, 2020: First bus leaves Randolph Street in Capreol to the Downtown Transit Hub at 5:35 a.m. then every 60 minutes until 7:30 p.m. After 7:30 p.m., buses run every 2 hours until the end of the service day.
