COVID-19 Update

Effective Saturday, July 11, the City of Greater Sudbury will reopen the front counter of the Frobisher Street Recycling Centre to the public. The counter has been closed since mid-March in line with other COVID-19 closures.

The counter will be open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. for purchase of backyard composters, kitchen collectors and Big Blues. Payment by credit or debit is encouraged.

The Recycling Centre will not be distributing blue boxes or exchanging damaged green carts. Residents are asked to place an order on the Waste Wise app, online at www.greatersudbury.ca/wastewise, or by calling 311.

Effective June 8, the weekly residential garbage bag limit has changed from four bags to two bags per household.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, a separate truck may be dispatched to collect leaf and yard trimmings following regularly scheduled collection days. Please leave your Leaf and Yard Waste at the roadside and it will be picked up as soon as possible.

The Sudbury, Azilda and Hanmer landfills will be open Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The sites are closed on certain statutory holidays.

The Walden Small Vehicle Transfer Station will be open Monday to Friday, from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The site is closed on certain statutory holidays.

In order to maintain physical distancing, only four to six vehicles will be permitted onsite at a time. Residents should be prepared for longer than usual wait times at all sites. The City has set up a live camera at the Sudbury landfill site so that residents can see how busy it is before they make the trip. Check out the live feed at www.greatersudbury.ca/landfill-livestream.

Landfill LivestreamPayment by debit or credit card is preferred.

The Household Hazardous Waste Depot will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the following Saturdays: May 23; May 30; June 13; July 11; August 8; September 5, 12, 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; November 14 and December 12, 2020.
