The City of Greater Sudbury is expanding warming centre services to address the needs of the community’s vulnerable population.
Effective January 29, the YMCA at 140 Durham St. will open a Daytime Warming Centre for up to 15 people, daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. In addition, the YMCA Overnight Warming Centre will accommodate an additional 15 people, increasing its capacity to 40.
Effective February 1, the Homelessness Network Day Centre will open more space for an additional eight to 10 people bringing capacity there to 40 people. The Samaritan Centre will open its drop in resource room for additional hours in the mornings, from 8 to 11 a.m., Monday to Friday
In addition, the Sudbury Action Centre for Youth (SACY) has extended its hours to 10 p.m. to 10 a.m.
