UPDATE: Significant Weather Event Remains in Effect

Mar 6, 2022

The public is advised that the Significant Weather Event issued by the City of Greater Sudbury starting at 5 a.m. on March 6, remains in effect, due to continued inclement weather and forecast weather conditions. This is in accordance with Ontario Consolidated Regulation 239/02 under the Municipal Act.

City of Greater Sudbury Roads Operations staff and contractors are aware of the significant water ponding in some areas and we continue clearing catch basins and storm sewers as well as salt and sand roads as required. City staff continue to work diligently due to several conflicting priorities across the City to ensure public safety.  It may take longer than normal to maintain the roadways and sidewalks normally maintained during this season.?Your cooperation is appreciated.?

Visibility and road conditions within the city vary from fair to poor at times. Motorists are encouraged to remain off the roads and drive only if necessary, with extreme caution.

Sidewalks normally maintained may be icy and have significant water ponding. Pedestrians are encouraged to be mindful of these conditions while walking.

Leisure programs and GOVA transit service schedules may also be impacted by the SWE. Updates for any scheduled events or transit delays will be posted as required. For real-time bus information, visit mybus.greatersudbury.ca.
