We are currently looking for an Assistant Manager of Child, Youth and Family Development to join our team of committed professionals. This full-time position within the Association is at various locations throughout the City of Greater Sudbury and Markstay. Under the leadership of the Manager of Child, Youth & Family Development (CYFD), the Assistant Manager of CYFD is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of licensed child care, licensed homes (where applicable), delivery of before/after school programs and all of its components in accordance with the policies, procedures and strategic direction. In addition, this job is also responsible for assisting with leading and managing of all funding applications as well as providing effective management of human, material, and financial resources. The Assistant Manager of CYFD is also responsible in supporting with identifying and developing opportunities for program expansions and growth across Northeastern Ontario.

Start Date: January 3rd 2022

Location: Sudbury

Rate of Pay: $56,160 per year

Hours: 40 hours per week

Summary of Qualifications 

  • College diploma or University degree in Early Childhood Education or related field*for education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES with their application
  • Membership with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) in good standing
  • Health assessment from Medical Professional and Immunizations Record (or exemption) as recommended and approved by the local Medical Officer of Health
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR (Level C) *Recognized by the WSIB
  • Current and Satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector

Major Responsibilities 

  • Contribute in setting operational goals and priorities and coordinate their implementation and timelines
  • Participate in the development and implementation of association standards, policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with the Manager of CYFD in the departmental budget planning process including quarterly budget reviews, forecasts and financial impact on programming
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise staff, volunteers, and schedule training events for staff and volunteers to ensure compliance with mandatory certifications
  • Ensure the implementation of quality measures and compliance with Ministry of Education expectations
  • Monitor the results, develop and implement quality measures response plans
  • Nurture and build capacity with existing community relationships and partners

This position may be entitled to a Ministry of Education Wage Enhancement Grant (WEG) of up to an additional $2.00/hour for qualifying positions within a licensed child care program at the YMCA. The YMCA submits an application annually for all entitled positions. The WEG is approved by the local Municipality and Ministry of Education, and is a government initiative to enhance the wages of child care educators. The WEG is not guaranteed by the YMCA, and can be withdrawn by the Ministry of Education.
