Invitation to the Community: 2021 Virtual Budget Information Session on February 10

Feb 1, 2021

Residents are invited to a virtual Budget Information Session on February 10 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to learn more and ask questions about the proposed 2021 Municipal Budget.

“I want to thank everyone who participated in 2021 Budget engagement in December and January,” said Greater Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger. “All of this important feedback will be reviewed by City Council as we work toward establishing a budget for the year that balances service level needs and our ongoing response to COVID-19 with ensuring a stable future for our community.”

Preparation of the municipal budget for City Council’s review and approval is underway. The goal is to prepare a plan that delivers public services which meet the community’s highest priority needs, at a cost that includes no more than a 3.9 per cent property tax increase over 2020. Budget deliberations start on February 24 with meetings also scheduled during the first two weeks of March.

Along with Mayor Bigger, Councillor Mike Jakubo, Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee, Councillor Deb McIntosh, Vice-Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee, and key senior and Budget team staff will be in attendance.

Residents who plan on attending are encouraged to share their budget related questions in advance of the event, via the Budget 2021 Over to You page. Those who attend will also be able to post questions live, during the event.

The link to the meeting will shared in a follow up PSA, on Over to You, on the City’s website, and on social media pages the day of the meeting.
