Applications Being Accepted for the Healthy Community Initiative Fund

The City of Greater Sudbury’s Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) Fund supports community-based projects and initiatives that advance municipal strategic goals and promote the health and well-being of residents. Applications are accepted year-round.

HCI funds allocate $36,750 annually to each of Greater Sudbury’s 12 wards, with $24,500 of the funds going to capital projects and up to $12,250 to community grants. 

To be eligible to receive a grant, or to submit an application proposing a capital project, an applicant must be a not-for-profit community group or organization that conducts its activities within the boundaries of the City of Greater Sudbury. The applicant must have a legal bank account in the name of the applicant or of a not-for-profit, parent group/organization.

 Applications are also eligible if they are for a Councillor-led event/initiative. Applicants are encouraged to consult with their Ward Councillor prior to submitting a request for funding.

Funding requests may be submitted up to 12 months in advance of a capital project, community program, event or activity. It is recommended that requests for more than $1,000 and that require a decision of Council be submitted at least two months in advance.
