Boat Washing Demonstration and Invasive Species Information Session: The City of Greater Sudbury Lake Water Quality Program and the Greater Sudbury Watershed Alliance held a boat cleaning demonstration this afternoon to raise awareness about aquatic invasive species and how to prevent them from spreading to other bodies of water.

Launch of TD Summer Reading Program at Market on Saturday: Greater Sudbury Public Library launches their Summer Reading Club at the Market on Saturday. Parents and children are invited to the Market to take part in a StoryMob community reading of the story Where Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. This event will begin at 10:30 a.m. and it will kick off the TD Summer Reading Club Program that will take place all summer long at public libraries across Greater Sudbury.

City of Greater Sudbury Not Endorsing Sampling of Water or Sales of Water Filtration System: The City of Greater Sudbury is urging residents to be wary of salespeople going door-to door asking to sample water or selling water treatment systems. The City does not send staff door-to-door sampling water, nor do we sell or endorse water filters, or treatment equipment for residents.

Notice of filming on Elgin and Durham Streets: Filming will take place on Sunday, June 19 starting 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Monday, June 20 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on the sidewalks and street area of Elgin and Durham Streets. Filming will take place around the Laurentian School of Architecture, Pepi Paninis and Oscars Grill.

Representatives from the City of Greater Sudbury and the Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre were at Carmichael Skate Park this morning to announce the second theme of the Healthy Kids Community Challenge, “Water Does Wonders.”
