Boat Washing Demonstration and Invasive Species Information Session

The City of Greater Sudbury Lake Water Quality Program and the Greater Sudbury Watershed Alliance held a boat cleaning demonstration this afternoon to raise awareness about aquatic invasive species and how to prevent them from spreading to other bodies of water.

Launch of TD Summer Reading Program at Market on Saturday

Greater Sudbury Public Library launches their Summer Reading Club at the Market on Saturday. Parents and children are invited to the Market to take part in a StoryMob community reading of the story Where Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. This event will begin at 10:30 a.m. and it will kick off the TD Summer Reading Club Program that will take place all summer long at public libraries across Greater Sudbury.

City of Greater Sudbury Not Endorsing Sampling of Water or Sales of Water Filtration System

The City of Greater Sudbury is urging residents to be wary of salespeople going door-to door asking to sample water or selling water treatment systems. The City does not send staff door-to-door sampling water, nor do we sell or endorse water filters, or treatment equipment for residents.

Lifeguards will begin patrolling City beaches starting Saturday, June 18. City of Greater Sudbury lifeguards are on duty seven days a week, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the following municipal beaches:

Notice of filming on Elgin and Durham Streets

Filming will take place on Sunday, June 19 starting 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Monday, June 20 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on the sidewalks and street area of Elgin and Durham Streets. Filming will take place around the Laurentian School of Architecture, Pepi Paninis and Oscars Grill.

Residents Advised of Potential for Low Water Pressure June 17 to June 24 

Residents of Coniston, Wahnapitae, Markstay and Sudbury, including New Sudbury, may notice low water pressure starting on June 17 and ongoing until Friday, June 24, due to reduced production from the Wanapitei Water Treatment Plant for maintenance work.

Water Does Wonders! Greater Sudbury is Challenging Kids to Drink More Water

The Healthy Kids Community Challenge and the City of Greater Sudbury want kids to reach for water when thirsty. Representatives from the City of Greater Sudbury and the Shkagamik-Kwe Health Centre were at Carmichael Skate Park this morning to announce the second theme of the Healthy Kids Community Challenge, “Water Does Wonders.”
