Jacob Street Sanitary Forcemain Upgrades
The City of Greater Sudbury is planning wastewater improvements on Jacob Street between the Jacob Street Lift Station, Alexander Street West to Joseph Avenue and Municipal Road 55 to the Walden Wastewater Treatment Plant, in Lively.
This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Canadian Housing Investment Fund (CHIF) which will increase sanitary sewer capacity and unlock new housing opportunities in the area.

Project Highlights:
- A new forcemain will be installed parallel to the existing one, increasing capacity and improving the operation of the Jacob Street Lift Station to support growing demand from Lively/Walden.
- During construction the pedestrian bridge over Meatbird Creek and the adjacent trail will be temporarily closed. The area will be fully restored once work is complete.
- Increased construction traffic can be expected on Jacob Street, Agnes Street, Alexander Street, Joseph Avenue, and MR 55 throughout the duration of the project.
- Upgrades to the Jacob Street Lift Station and the Walden Wastewater Treatment Plant will occur under separate contracts beginning in early 2026.
