Season Startup Notice- June 11, 2026

Wahnapitae Lagoon Rehabilitation 

The City of Greater Sudbury will be continuing maintenance improvements to the Wahnapitae Wastewater Lagoons at 179 Lamothe Street, Wahnapitae.

Construction by the City’s contractor, GFL Environmental Services Inc., will resume in mid-June 2026 and is expected to be completed in late fall 2026.

Work will typically take place during daylight hours Monday to Friday, however due to seasonal constraints, weekend or night work may be required.

Current Construction Details:

  • All three lagoons will be cleared of overgrown vegetation to improve their function and extend their useful life.
  • Dredging and draining of the lagoons will be completed for biosolid removal.
  • Residents may notice increased truck traffic on Lamothe Street. These trucks will be transporting materials from the site throughout the project.
