Notre Dame East, Azilda

Culvert Replacement

The City of Greater Sudbury will be continuing road improvements and culvert replacement on Notre Dame East, between Landry and Swedlund Streets, in Azilda.

The Culvert Replacement was planned for construction in August 2021, and the Summer of 2022.  Start of the work was delayed until the Summer of 2023 due to scheduling for relocating overhead and underground utilities, and environmental restrictions on timing of in-water work.

Construction by the City’s Contractor, Denis Gratton Construction Limited will begin mid-July 2023 and is expected to be completed October 2023.

Work will typically take place during daylight hours Monday to Friday

Final asphalt will be completed in 2023.

Construction Details:

  • Culvert Replacement and watermain improvements
  • Bus stop relocation to the west side of Landry Street
  • Storm sewer improvements
  • Roadway restoration
  • A limited, full road closure of Landry Street is planned at the Notre Dame East intersection.  The Contractor performing the work will install signage in advance notifying of the planned date for the road closure and applicable detour.

During construction, there may be dust and noise in the area. The City makes every effort to reduce the impact to nearby residents and business owners. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve the roads and infrastructure in your neighbourhood. The City of Greater Sudbury and its contractors are committed to public safety and will monitor the ongoing progress of construction.
