How to Apply for Community Housing

  • Apply online, or
  • Download the Rent-Geared-To-Income Application Form (PDF, 2.56 MB)
  • Make sure to read and sign the Release and Consent form and Declaration form that are included in the Application form. All household members 16 years of age or older must sign these forms in ink.

Step 3

Include copies of:

  • Canadian citizenship (Canadian birth certificate, Certificate of Indian Status Card, landed papers, or documents supporting your application for refugee status)

Step 4

Include verification of income for all sources of income listed on the application.

For example:

  • eight weeks of employment statements
  • social assistance statement (Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program)
  • Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) documentation
  • three months of bank account statements
  • investment statements
  • support statements
  • pension statements
  • most recent income tax return assessment

Include verification of spousal support you pay as we will deduct this amount from your income.

Step 5

Submit your application and all applicable supporting documents to the Housing Registry by mail or in person to:

Applications received without birth certificates, Certificate of Indian Status Card, landed papers, or documents supporting your application for refugee status or income verification will not be reviewed.

In-person office hours for Housing Services are from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

Applications and other documentation can be placed in the Housing Services drop box in the lobby of 199 Larch.
