Drop-in Resource Centre Hours Extended

Jan 24, 2024

New Hope Outreach currently operates a drop-in resource centre upstairs at the Samaritan Centre (344 Elgin St.) from 1 to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Through a funding agreement with the City of Greater Sudbury, drop-in centre hours have been extended to include 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., from Monday to Friday, and 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The extended hours, effective January 23, through April 30, 2024, will increase warming centre services for those who are unhoused.

The Samaritan Centre drop-in centre can accommodate 25 individuals at a time and offers access to warm space, washrooms, coffee, internet, computers, phones and support. Other services offered within the Samaritan Centre building include free meals, showers and laundry services. Client Navigators also meet with individuals at this location to navigate the path to permanent housing.

Funding for the additional daytime and weekend drop-in hours is through additional Federal Reaching Home funding received to support Winter 2023-24 Unsheltered Homelessness Response.
