Step 2: File Your Nomination Papers

Nominations for the Municipal and School Board Election opens Monday, May 2, 2022.

The deadline for a candidate to file their nomination for municipal or school board office is Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Those who are satisfied that they meet the prescribed requirements, as set out in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, and wish to campaign for office must first file a Nomination Paper with the Clerk of the City of Greater Sudbury. Nominations for office can be filed anytime between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at  the One Stop Shop located in the foyer of Tom Davies Square.

The nomination of a person for an office on Council must be endorsed by at least 25 eligible voters and accompanied by a prescribed declaration from each person.

Along with the Nomination Paper, a separate form containing these 25 signatures must be submitted to the Clerk of the City of Greater Sudbury. Persons endorsing a nomination must be eligible to vote in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election at the time the nomination is endorsed and they may endorse more than one nomination.

A nomination fee must also be paid at this time, which can be made by debit, credit card, certified cheque or money order payable to the "City of Greater Sudbury".
