Q. I got an error or am having an issuing submitting my application, who can I contact for assistance?

A. You can email myJOBS@greatersudbury.ca and include your contact information (name and telephone number you can be reached at) and a screenshot of the error you encountered, if possible. You can also call: 705-674-4455 extension 4203 or extension 4395.

 

Q: How do I find what positions are available with the City of Greater Sudbury? 

A: Check our website's Current employment opportunities section at www.greatersudbury.ca/jobs for all available employment opportunities. We also send our current employment opportunities to various Non-Profit Agencies and all post-secondary schools in Greater Sudbury. 

 

Q: How long are employment opportunities posted? 

A: Employment opportunities are posted for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days. The closing date and time can be found on each employment opportunity.

 

Q: How do I apply for a job with the City of Greater Sudbury? 

A: Please visit our How to Apply section for instructions on how to apply for an employment opportunity. 

 

Q: Where can I pick up an Employment Application Form? 

A: The City of Greater Sudbury does not have a general Employment Application Form for employment opportunities. 

We use specialized application forms for specific recruitments (e.g. Summer Student, Volunteer Fire Fighter and Paramedic recruitment). Please see each individual employment opportunity for instructions on how to apply.

 

Q: To whom should I address my cover letter? 

A: We do not provide the names of the hiring managers. However, information on where to send your cover letter/resume will be indicated on the employment opportunity. It is important to read the directions carefully at the bottom of all employment opportunities to ensure your resume is received correctly. 

   

Q: Do you hire high school students? 

A: Yes, the City of Greater Sudbury frequently looks for energetic high school students for various part-time and casual positions (e.g. Service and Program Staff, Junior Arena Maintenance person, Page, etc.). These positions will be posted on our website at www.greatersudbury.ca/jobs

 

Q: Do you hire summer staff? 

A: Recruitment for summer staff begins the first week of January and closes on the third Friday of February every year for the upcoming summer months (usually April to August). Please visit our Student Employment page for more information. 

 

Q: What documentation do I need to provide with my resume? 

 A: If you are required to submit documents with your resume, it will be indicated on the employment opportunity. If you are selected for an interview, you may be asked to provide one (1) or more of the following: academic diplomas, training certificates, first aid / CPR certificates, etc. 

Please do not submit your Criminal Record Check with your resume. If you are the candidate of choice and a Criminal Record Check is required, the hiring manager will request this.

 

Q: How do I apply for a job at Pioneer Manor, the City of Greater Sudbury Long Term Care Facility? 

A: All external employment opportunities for positions with the City of Greater Sudbury, including Pioneer Manor, will be posted on our website www.greatersudbury.ca/jobs

 

Q: How do I apply for a position as a Fire Fighter? 

A: Career Fire Fighter positions are posted as employment opportunities. Please check our website frequently for updates. 

We accept applications year-round for Volunteer Fire Fighter positions. Please visit the Fire Services web page for information and the application form. 

 

Q: How can I speak to someone regarding the employment opportunities which are currently posted?

Q: How can I be sure that my resume was received? 

A: When you have submitted your application, you will receive a note on your screen indicating your application has been successfully submitted. You will also receive an email stating that your application has been successfully received. 

 

Q: When can I expect to hear about my application with the City of Greater Sudbury? 

A: The recruitment process can take up to eight (8) weeks, and only those selected for an interview will be contacted. 

 

Q: Do you accept unsolicited resumes? 

A: Yes, we do accept unsolicited resumes. Click on "Apply without a job" and fill in all of the required information.
