Brady Green Stairs, Sudbury- Continued construction on the Brady and Durham Street green stairs will cause intermittent traffic and pedestrian interruptions on Brady St., Elgin St. and Durham St. until August 2018.

In conjunction with Emergency Preparedness Week, May 6 to-12, 2018, the City of Greater Sudbury will be performing its annual test of the Sudbury Alerts Emergency Notification System on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Residents in the area will receive a test notification on that day.

Filming will take place on Monday, May 7 from midnight until 3 a.m. A controlled pyrotechnics scene of a car explosion will take place near the corner of Elgin and Larch Streets.

Barry Downe Rd., Sudbury- A private contractor will close a lane on Barry Downe Rd., at the Canadian Tire Gas bar on Wednesday, May 2 to sample monitoring wells. Work will be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a paid duty officer will be on-site directing traffic.

With the spring weather finally here, bears are coming out of hibernation. The potential for human-bear interactions increases in the spring when there are less natural food sources available to them. This is when food sources, such as garbage and bird feed, can draw bears into populated areas.

The nomination period will open for the offices of Mayor, Ward Councillor, and School Board Trustee on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. The deadline for a candidate to file their nomination for municipal or school board office is Friday, July 27, 2018, at 2 p.m.

- Street Sweeping Underway in Greater Sudbury

The City’s street sweeping program is currently underway and will run through to mid-June.
City crews have begun sweeping sidewalks, boulevards, medians and some streets throughout the city.

- Water Update- D'Youville Street

D'Youville Street, Sudbury- A water main break will close D'Youville St. between Bloor St. and Levis St. on Thursday, April 26 until 9 p.m. Flag persons will be on-site and detour signs will be in place. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.

Lorne Street, Sudbury- Water main installation will reduce traffic to one lane across on Lorne Street from Byng St. to Martindale Rd on Wednesday, April 25 to Friday, May 11. Temporary traffic signals will be in place for the duration of the work.
