Planning for a Prosperous Downtown

City staff continue to work on an updated Downtown Master Plan, which will identify new areas for continued growth and development. While the Downtown Action Plan identifies a number of urgent, short to medium term actions, it is important to ensure we are enabling new businesses and residential opportunities to prosper downtown in the long term.

The Downtown Action Plan commits to:

• Providing adequate and appropriate parking options in Downtown as the Transformation Project advances. There are shorter?term, temporary parking plans now, with the Downtown Master Plan supporting the longer?term parking plan, as staff continue work on related initiatives such as the South District Expression of Interest and planning for future parking opportunities.

• Build on the work being done now to create a vibrant downtown and leverage the City’s investments in new facilities and strategic land parcels.
