Encampment Response Strategy
The City continues to respond to encampments in the community by following strategies outlined in the Encampment Response Guide developed by OrgCode Consulting Inc. The City engaged with OrgCode Consulting Inc. in August 2021 to develop a coordinated, supportive, and successful approach to addressing encampments.
The Encampment Response Infographic outlines the process City staff follow when responding to encampments in the community.
The City of Greater Sudbury developed a Roadmap to End Homelessness by 2030, which was approved by the Council in May 2024. This is an ambitious plan to reach functional zero, that will require the support of all three levels of government. This Community Encampment Response Plan will identify solutions to increase engagement with encampment residents, while ensuring their basic needs are met and they are kept safe from the elements during the harsh winter months in Northern Ontario.
