Sudbury's Regreening Story Returns to the Classroom with City's VETAC
Sep 11, 2025
VETAC, the City of Greater Sudbury’s Advisory Panel on Regreening, is pleased to offer free programming to local schools for students in Grades 4 through 12. Now in its second year, the classroom program brings Greater Sudbury’s Regreening story to life.
Interactive presentations, led by a dedicated educator, offer students a unique opportunity to explore the history of industrial impacts in Greater Sudbury and the City’s ongoing Regreening efforts. Each visit supports key curriculum concepts across a range of subjects, including science, history, social studies and geography.
The program features hands-on learning activities that help students develop a deeper, more personal understanding of Greater Sudbury’s environmental transformation.

About VETAC
VETAC, City Council’s Advisory Panel on Regreening, was established in 1973. Their mandate is to work towards the recovery of self-sustaining, indigenous terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in Greater Sudbury through the City's Regreening Program. VETAC also provides the community with opportunities to participate in this initiative by improving the environment at home, in neighbourhoods and on public lands.
