Reminder to Motorists to Watch for School Crossing Guards

The City of Greater Sudbury reminds motorists to watch for school crossing guards and to obey their hand signals. Drivers who fail to stop for a school crossing guard could be subject to a fine under the Provincial Offences Act.

Motorists are advised to keep the following safety tips in mind:

Always obey school crossing guards. They are there to keep our children safe.

Wait for a signal from the school crossing guard before turning a corner at which a crossing guard is stationed.

School crossing guards will make every attempt to minimize disruptions in traffic flow. There are times, however, when traffic must be brought to a stop to allow children to cross the street. Please be patient.

Please take care and be alert at all times. The safety of our children is first and foremost.
