Local Firefighter Ranks at UAE International Firefighter Challenge

The City of Greater Sudbury is proud to recognize Trevor Fera, local firefighter, who recently competed at the UAE International Firefighter Challenge in Abu Dhabi.

Trevor ranked 3rd out of 175 competitors from across the world, representing 13 countries. He was one of 50 athletes representing Canada at the challenge in Abu Dhabi.

“This is an amazing accomplishment by Trevor and our local firefighter combat challenge team,” said Tim Beadman, Chief of Fire and Paramedic Services. “Challenges like these are rightfully known as the toughest two minutes of sports. I continue to be amazed and extremely proud of the recognition our firefighter combat team continues to receive on a national and international platform.”

Trevor Fera is celebrating his 10th year as a career firefighter as well as his 7th year with the Greater Sudbury Firefighter Combat Team. His 3rd place finish in Abu Dhabi comes just 7 months after suffering a broken leg while playing hockey.

The Greater Sudbury Firefighter Combat Team includes firefighters Trevor Fera, Jimmy Kolar, Adam Blais, and volunteer firefighter Steve O’Brien. The combat team holds numerous titles and ranks at both the national and international level.
