Social Services

Social services are an essential part of downtown revitalization. The vulnerable population living downtown must have a place to access basic needs such as food and shelter, as well as a path to treatment and medical assistance, if they are to find their way out of homelessness and addiction.

The Downtown Action Plan commits to:

  • Expansion of warming centre hours and services to cover 24 hours, 7 days per week, from November 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026, operated by Go-Give at Energy Court. From May 1 to September 30 2026, ongoing services will be provided at this site with a focus on helping residents secure housing ahead of the site’s planned closure in 2027.
  • Providing a hub of social services at the Energy Court location that allows for more centralized support as well as security. Greater Sudbury Police Services is committed to supporting this location, allowing both Police and Bylaw to focus their efforts.
