Social Services

Social services are an essential part of downtown revitalization. The vulnerable population living downtown must have a place to access basic needs such as food and shelter, as well as a path to treatment and medical assistance, if they are to find their way out of homelessness and addiction.
The Downtown Action Plan commits to:
- Expansion of warming centre hours and services to cover 24 hours, 7 days per week. There will also be 24/7 access to washrooms. This essential expansion of service is supported by existing funding.
- Providing a hub of social services in a downtown location that allows for more centralized support as well as security. Greater Sudbury Police Services has committed to supporting this location, allowing both Police and Bylaw to focus their efforts.
