PSA – UPDATE: Greater Sudbury Remains Under a Significant Weather Event
Mar 17, 2026
March 17, 2026 - 7 p.m.
The City of Greater Sudbury remains under a Significant Weather Event, as declared on Sunday, March 15 at 5 p.m. While precipitation has ended, the declaration will remain in place until road and sidewalk maintenance can return to normal service levels.
The significant amount of snow that fell in a short period of time continues to cause delays. Crews are working around the clock and, in many cases, must rely on loaders and graders, as traditional plows are not effective in current conditions. This is impacting overall timelines.
Residents on local roads may notice that only a single lane has been cleared to date. This approach allows crews to restore access to as many households as possible within a reasonable timeframe. Additional snow clearing on these streets will continue as operations progress. Please ensure no vehicles are left on roadways to avoid obstructing snow removal efforts.
GOVA Service Update
Routes 1N, 1S and 2 were restored to regular service earlier today. Beginning tomorrow, the Downtown Mobility Hub (9 Elm Street) will reopen, and additional transit routes will resume service on their regular schedules as listed below.
However, due to ongoing road conditions, some routes will operate on detours. Updated route information and detours will be posted online prior to the start of service tomorrow: https://www.greatersudbury.ca/live/transit/.
