City of Greater Sudbury Gearing Up for a Vibrant Summer in Downtown Sudbury

May 12, 2026

The City of Greater Sudbury is getting ready for an exciting summer in downtown Sudbury, with a full lineup of events planned, the re-opening of key gathering places and continued improvements to infrastructure that will enhance how residents and visitors experience downtown.  All of this will attract more residents and visitors to the downtown, where they will find many vibrant local amenities to enjoy this summer.

Throughout the summer, downtown Sudbury will come alive with events, activities and opportunities to connect. A highlight of the season is the re-opening of Memorial Park, which will serve as a welcoming and active gathering space for the community throughout the summer and in the years to come. Residents can view upcoming events in downtown Sudbury and many other areas of Greater Sudbury at Events – Tourism Sudbury.

To help individuals and businesses plan ahead , the City of Greater Sudbury has launched a new webpage: Your Summer in Downtown Sudbury. This dedicated hub includes an updated weekend parking map, event listings and helpful resources to support planning and participation throughout the season. The City encourages everyone to take advantage of these resources and make the most out of their summer in the downtown.

To continue enhancing the downtown experience, construction projects will be underway over the summer to support long-term improvements to the downtown area. Construction along Elgin Street will see infrastructure and active transportation improvements, as well as on Paris Street between Ste. Anne Road and Van Horne Street for the Paris-Notre Dame Bikeway. This will expand upon existing active transportation features and improve connectivity in and around downtown Sudbury. These upgrades go towards advancing one of the Downtown Master Plan’s four directives, Access and Connectivity. This work will have limited temporary impacts on traffic and parking. Downtown activities are expected to continue with little disruption from this construction.

The City will continue to share construction updates and keep all related resources current as work progresses, and is looking forward to another summer of community and festivities in Downtown Sudbury.
