The City of Greater Sudbury provides financial assistance to eligible residents who have experienced or who could potentially experience flooding of their basements from sewer backups during times of heavy precipitation, spring thaw or system blockages.

Greater Sudbury Moving Forward in Wake of Noront Ferrochrome Production Facility Announcement

The City of Greater Sudbury met with representatives from Noront Resources this morning, and learned its bid for a proposed ferrochrome production facility at the former Inco Coniston Smelter Site was no longer under consideration.

Traffic Update- Kelly Lake Road, various locations

Kelly Lake Road, Sudbury- Final surface paving will result in intermittent traffic delays in both directions on Kelly Lake Road near the Wastewater Treatment Plant from Monday, July 16 to Thursday, July 19. Work will be complete from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and traffic control will be in place.

Ban on Outdoor Fires Continues in Greater Sudbury

Rainfall that accompanied Monday’s thunderstorm was limited to certain areas of the City of Greater Sudbury. It did little to improve dry conditions in the City and as a result, the ban on all open air burning declared on Friday, July 6, is still in effect.

Traffic Update - Edinburgh Street

Edinburgh Street, Sudbury- Sewer lateral repairs will close part of Edinburgh Street from Worthington Crescent to Nicholas Street beginning at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11 until midnight on Friday, July 13.

Council Affirms Support for The Junction

The Junction, the shared site for the new Library/Art Gallery and Convention and Performance Centre, passed another milestone at the July 10 City Council meeting with the approval of staff recommendations for next steps to continue to move the projects forward.

Traffic Update- Falconbridge Road

Falconbridge Road, Sudbury- Asphalt removal and re-paving work will close both southbound and northbound inside lanes on Falconbridge Road between Lasalle Boulevard and Tulane Avenue on Wednesday, July 11 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Traffic control will be in place.
