City of Greater Sudbury Water/Wastewater Services has activated its emergency response plan to better serve residents affected by frozen water service. All available personnel in Water/Wastewater Services are dedicated to restoring water service to residents.

City of Greater Sudbury crews continue to work diligently to identify and restore frozen water services across the city. This process is taking more time than usual due to extended freezing temperatures, resulting in a larger number of frozen services. The City recognizes the frustration that some residents are experiencing, and requests the public’s patience while we deal with the consequences of the record low temperatures that have occurred this winter.

Over the past two days, Mayor Brian Bigger and representatives from the City of Greater Sudbury attended the Ontario Good Roads Association/Rural Ontario Municipal Association (OGRA/ROMA) Combined Conference where they met with Provincial Cabinet Ministers to discuss ongoing projects involving the City of Greater Sudbury. 

All residents in Chelmsford are being asked to conserve water tonight as City crews work to repair a water main break near 2491 Highway 144.

The City of Greater Sudbury continues to respond to an increase in call volume pertaining to residents experiencing no or low water pressure.

The City of Greater Sudbury reminds residents that due to the recent cold temperatures, we have been responding to a large number of calls from citizens who have no or low water pressure. The majority of these calls are caused by insufficient heat in the area around the water meter and where water plumbing is located inside the home.
