General Manager of Community Development Accepts Two-Year Position with North-East LHIN

The City’s General Manager of Community Development, Catherine Matheson, has accepted a two-year secondment position with the North East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), as their Senior Director Health System Transformation and Implementation.

“This is a role where Catherine will be using her strategic thinking and system management skills,” said Doug Nadorozny, Chief Administrative Officer. “There are many synergies with the work she has led here at the City that make this move a very positive one toward our longer term vision for a Healthy Sustainable Community. I, and the entire Senior Management Team, wish Catherine the best as she embarks on this new opportunity.”
 
The position with the LHIN building on Ms. Matheson’s work at the City of Greater Sudbury as it relates to the healthy community initiative, new wellness strategy, Centre of Excellence in Seniors’ Health at Pioneer Manor, Family Health Team development, geriatric specialty services, and community development from a social determinant of health perspective. Ms. Matheson will start with the two-year secondment with the LHIN on March 5, 2015, but will available to the City beyond that date for transition purposes.

A process is underway to determine an interim replacement for Ms. Matheson’s position. The General Manager of Community Development oversees  a broad portfolio comprised of  Housing Services, Social Services, Pioneer Manor, Leisure Services, and Citizen Services. The department has approximately 1,200 employees, an operating budget of $168 million and a capital budget of $5.8 million.
