Step 2: File Your Nomination Papers
Nominations for the Municipal and School Board Election opens Friday, May 1, 2026.
The deadline for a candidate to file their nomination for municipal or school board office is Friday, August 21, 2026 at 2 p.m.
Those who are satisfied that they meet the prescribed requirements, as set out in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, and wish to campaign for office must first file a Nomination Paper with the Clerk of the City of Greater Sudbury. Nominations for office can be filed anytime between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the One-Stop Services counter located in the Tom Davies Square foyer.
Along with the Nomination Paper, a separate endorsement form containing 25 signatures must be submitted to the Clerk of the City of Greater Sudbury. Persons endorsing a nomination must be eligible to vote in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election at the time the nomination is endorsed. Electors may endorse more than one nomination.
A nomination fee must also be paid at this time, which can be made by debit, credit card, certified cheque or money order payable to the "City of Greater Sudbury".
