Surface Treatment, Various Locations
The City of Greater Sudbury will be completing road improvements in various locations around Greater Sudbury.
Construction by the City’s contractor, Denis Gratton Construction, will begin in June and is expected to be completed in September 2026. Each location is to be completed within four weeks from the time the construction begins.
Work will typically take place during daylight hours Monday to Friday.
Work will take place on sections of the following roads:
Single Surface Treatment:
- Fairbank Lake Road (Worthington)
- Goodwill Drive (Garson)
- Vermilion Lake Road (Chelmsford)
- Frenchman Lake Road (Hanmer)
- Tilton Lake Road (Sudbury)
Double Surface Treatment:
- Dryden Road East (Wahnapitae)
- Kantola Road (Lively)
- Moxam Landing Road (Lively)
- Park Road (Whitefish)
- Spanish River Road (Whitefish)
- Bonin Street (Azilda)
- McKenzie Road (Chelmsford)
- Tilton Lake Road (Sudbury)

Project Highlights:
Single Surface Treatment
- Crews will add a layer of sand-like gravel to help build up and smooth the road.
- The road will then be finished with chip and tar, which is a mix of asphalt and stone used to create a driving surface.
- This application is designed to cure with the help of traffic and warm weather.
- Ongoing dust on low-traffic roads is expected during the curing period.
Double Surface Treatment:
- Regrading
- Adding gravel
- Surface treatment also known as chip and tar
- Matching driveways to new road elevation
