Lively infrastructure improvements

Lively and Walden are growing communities in Greater Sudbury. As more people choose to live here, the demand for housing continues to increase. At the same time, existing water and wastewater systems in the area are nearing capacity. This has limited new development and could affect future growth.

To help address this, the City of Greater Sudbury, with support from federal and provincial partners, is moving ahead with seven major infrastructure projects in Lively and Walden. Nearly $63 million in government funding will support upgrades to water and wastewater infrastructure and help enable up to 3,300 new homes.

These improvements will support future housing, strengthen local infrastructure and help Lively and Walden continue to grow.

These projects are funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund and by the Province of Ontario through the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund.

Planned construction projects

The seven planned infrastructure projects are part of a coordinated, multi-year effort to improve essential water and wastewater services in Lively and Walden. These upgrades will increase servicing capacity, improve reliability and support future residential development.
