Public invited to view contents of Sudbury 2001 Time Capsule

Apr 11, 2026

The City of Greater Sudbury is inviting residents to step back in time and explore the contents of the Sudbury 2001 Time Capsule.

Following its opening earlier in the day at Tom Davies Square, all items from the time capsule will be on display for the public to view beginning on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Mackenzie Street Library (74 Mackenzie Street).

The time capsule was originally sealed on October 27, 2001, capturing a snapshot of life in Greater Sudbury at the time. Now, nearly 25 years later, residents have the opportunity to rediscover pieces of the past and reflect on how the community has grown and changed.

Members of the public are encouraged to drop in from April 12 to May 18, 2026, to view the display and take part in this unique moment in the city’s history.
