PSA - City Initiates Parking Ban on all Municipal Roads

Mar 20, 2026

With all roads now having received at least a first pass and basic access restored, City crews have shifted focus to clearing laneways and cul-de-sacs, as well as widening roads. These efforts can be significantly delayed by vehicles parked on municipal roads, in laneways, or too close to the end of driveways within the road allowance.

To support ongoing snow clearing and removal operations, and in accordance with the Traffic and Parking By-law, the City has implemented a parking ban on all municipal roads (excluding paid on-street parking). The ban will be enforced 24/7 until the Significant Weather Event declaration is lifted.

Residents are asked to avoid parking on roads and in laneways. Vehicles that are impeding snow removal may be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. Bylaw Enforcement Officers will make reasonable efforts to contact vehicle owners before taking enforcement action.

Additionally, crews will be temporarily closing sections of residential roads to accelerate snow clearing, road widening, and eventual snowbank removal. These short-term closures are necessary to complete the work as quickly as possible while minimizing impacts to residents.
