City Thanks OLG for Continued Investment in City of Greater Sudbury
Jun 16, 2026
The City of Greater Sudbury is expressing its appreciation to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for its ongoing financial contributions through the Municipality Contribution Agreement (MCA), as Sudbury is a casino host community.
Throughout OLG’s 2025–26 fiscal year (April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026), the City received $2.15 million as its share of casino gaming revenue from OLG, and since the opening of the casino in 1999, OLG has provided more than $54 million to the City of Greater Sudbury.
“OLG’s generous support over the years has strengthened our ability to invest in critical infrastructure improvements and the growth of our city,” said the City of Greater Sudbury Mayor. “OLG continues to be a vital force in our community’s progress, and I look forward to fostering this great partnership for years to come."
Annual OLG contributions are placed in the City’s general revenue accounts and invested in capital projects such as roadwork and facility upgrades. Through the City's 2024–2027 Capital Budget, OLG funding is supporting improvements to libraries and community centres. Recent upgrades at the New Sudbury Library include new paint, carpeting and shelving. Additional enhancements are planned for libraries in Chelmsford, Valley East and Lively, with work beginning in the coming months.
“OLG truly values being a long-standing partner in the City of Sudbury and to communities across Ontario. Every dollar of OLG’s profit is returned to Ontario to support the things people care about most, like critical infrastructure, local initiatives, and community events. Those dollars are making a difference here in Sudbury. The impact wouldn’t be possible without the great team at Gateway Casino Sudbury, whose work supports both the local economy and community well-being. When you play at an Ontario casino, you play for Ontario,” said Kathleen Devine, OLG’s Senior Municipal Relations Manager.
