City provides sand and sandbags to support residents at risk of flooding

Apr 10, 2026

With rain expected to continue throughout the week, residents who are experiencing or at risk of property flooding can access sand and sandbags through the City of Greater Sudbury.

Residents can visit one of five Public Works depots to discuss their needs and pick up sandbags. Materials are available on site, and residents are responsible for filling bags themselves. When handling sandbags, residents are encouraged to use proper lifting techniques and take care.

Residents may also bring and fill their own bags at depot locations. Sandbags can also be purchased at a number of local retailers.

Residents should call 311 for information on the closest depot that has supplies available and staff on hand to provide bags.
