City Appoints New Chief of Paramedic Services

Jul 17, 2025

The City of Greater Sudbury announced today that Aaron Archibald has been appointed Chief of Paramedic Services.

Mr. Archibald is a long-standing City employee with 25 years of combined experience in Paramedic and Long-Term Care Services. He began his career in Paramedic Services, where he served as an Advanced Care Paramedic, Training Officer, Platoon Superintendent and, in 2011, was promoted to Deputy Chief of Paramedic Operations. He also spent five years as a part-time faculty member at Cambrian College, where he designed and taught curriculum for both primary and advanced care paramedic programs.

In 2017, Mr. Archibald accepted an assignment as Director of Long-Term Care Services, where he has spent the past eight years overseeing all aspects of Pioneer Manor, the City’s 433-bed long-term care facility. He led the centre through the COVID-19 pandemic and has most recently been managing a $93-million, 160-bed capital redevelopment project.

Mr. Archibald now returns to Paramedic Services in a new director-level role as Chief, as the City transitions from a combined Chief of Emergency Services model to dedicated leadership for both Fire and Paramedic Services.

“Aaron’s proven leadership and collaborative approach will be a tremendous asset to our Paramedic Services team,” says Tyler Campbell, the City’s General Manager of Community Well-being. “His combined experience in paramedicine and leading key City projects makes him an excellent choice as our Chief of Paramedic Services. I look forward to working with him as we continue to serve the residents of Greater Sudbury.”

“I am deeply honoured and eager to take on the role of Chief of Paramedic Services,” says Mr. Archibald. “I began my career with the City of Greater Sudbury as a paramedic, and returning to my roots in this way feels especially meaningful. My time with the City has prepared me well for this next step, and I’m fortunate to have an outstanding team at Paramedic Services to support us through this transition.”

Mr. Archibald begins his new role on July 28.
