We’re SOchi Proud! Olympic Homecoming Celebration set for June 11, 2014

Residents are invited to join the City of Greater Sudbury for a community celebration to welcome home and congratulate local Olympic athletes who represented Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Previously scheduled for April 15 at Tom Davis Square, we invite residents to join us for the rescheduled event on Wednesday, June 11 at the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre in Bell Park, Sudbury, to celebrate local Olympians Rebecca Johnston, Meagan Duhamel, Devon Kershaw and Chris Del Bosco. The community celebration and barbecue will start at 11:00 a.m.

Wear red and white to show your Canadian pride and support for local Olympic athletes and their families. Four flags will be on site on the morning of the event to sign upon arrival.  The flags will be presented to each athlete to say thank you for representing Greater Sudbury and Canada on the Olympic stage.

Women's Hockey Gold Medalist Rebecca Johnston and Team Figure Skating Event Silver Medalist Meagan Duhamel will be attending the celebration. Cross-Country Skier Devon Kershaw and Chris Del Bosco, Ski Cross, may not be able to attend and may be represented by family members.

Greater Sudbury Transit will be providing free transportation to and from the celebration between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. If you plan to take advantage of this service, advise the driver upon boarding that you are coming to or from the event, and the fare will be waived.

For more information call the City of Greater Sudbury at 3-1-1.
