Public Tours of Greater Sudbury Transit and Fleet Centre: Saturday, November 15

Nov 10, 2014

Citizens are invited to tour the Greater Sudbury Transit and Fleet Centre at 1160 Lorne Street on Saturday, November 15, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. This 135,000 square foot mechanical repair and maintenance centre contains all the functions to service approximately 900 vehicles and equipment essential to the delivery of municipal services.

Long pants and closed-toe footwear are mandatory for the tour. If necessary, extra parking will be available at Leuschen Transportation, opposite the Transit and Fleet Centre on Lorne. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The consolidation of six municipal service depots into one central garage and office facility was complete in late September. In addition to 28 repair bays, the Centre has room to park up to 70 transit buses indoors. Public tours will include a display of heavy equipment and an opportunity for children to ride through an automated bus wash.
