Program Encourages Youth to “Ride the Bus on Us” this Summer

Jun 26, 2014

“Ride the Bus on Us,” an initiative of the Mayor and Council’s Advisory Panel on Children and Youth will continue this summer for a sixth consecutive year. This popular program is designed to encourage young people to take part in community programs and to familiarize themselves with the public transit system.

Local youth, ages 12 to 24, are invited to present their library card or similar identification at any branch of the Greater Sudbury Public Library to apply for five free rides on Greater Sudbury Transit. Passes will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis starting July 2 and again on August 5. Five ride passes will also be distributed through local social service agencies up to a limit of two per person.

“Ride the Bus on Us has proven to be a very successful program,” said Mayor Marianne Matichuk. “I hope young people across Greater Sudbury take this opportunity to enjoy the many terrific facilities, activities and sporting events organized by the city this summer.”

Up to 2,500 complementary five ride bus passes are available for distribution. For more information please dial 3-1-1.
