Semi-Private Lessons
Semi-private lessons include one instructor working with two swimmers of similar swimming ability. This format offers more personalized instruction than group lessons while still providing a shared learning experience. Available for Preschool 1 to Swimmer 6 levels. Participants must be 3 years of age and older. Please note we do not pair swimmers; families must select their own partner of similar swimming ability.
Semi-Private Lessons are not available for Parent and Tot programs or for advanced Lifesaving Society courses, including Rookie Patrol, Bronze Medallion, National Lifeguard or instructor-level programs. If you require additional support or believe your situation may need special consideration, contact the pool directly to discuss alternative options.
For safety reasons, if it becomes clear after the first class that the swimmers are not at comparable levels, semi-private lessons may not continue, and alternate arrangements may be recommended.
Upon registration, you will need to complete a short questionnaire to provide details about your needs for your lesson. Note: Preferences are not guaranteed and depend on instructor availability, experience and language abilities (instructors may not be bilingual).
Lessons are 30 minutes, once per week, for the duration of the session block.
Registration Options: Call the pool directly or attend in person at the pool. For contact numbers or addresses of specific pools, visit the Municipal Swimming Pools page. Online registration for semi-private lessons is not available at this time.
There’s a new way to register for parks and recreation programs or book a facility. It’s easy to create an account! If you need help getting started, visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.
The French interface of our new registration system is still under development, however it is important that the City goes live with the new system as the existing registration and facility booking system is no longer supported by the vendor. Residents can still receive this service in French by calling 311 to have a French-speaking operator process bookings or registrations. The French interface will be launched in time for the fall/winter registration period.
