Inclusion Support Service

Review Summer Camp Sessions

Our inclusion support services are designed to help children with diverse needs experience a safe, fun and meaningful summer. We offer limited inclusion support for campers who require additional assistance to participate successfully in our programs. This includes:

  • Positive encouragement and engagement support
  • Guidance and daily routine support
  • Behaviour support
  • Safety awareness
  • Communication support
  • Program adaptation

At this time, we cannot support children who require assistance with the following:

  • Lifts and transfers
  • Toileting
  • G-Tube feeding
  • Personal hygiene

How It Works

  • Families must complete an Inclusion Support request form. This form will be available on Xplor Recreation.
  • Supports are approved based on availability and individual needs.
  • Each participant may receive up to two weeks of individualized support during the summer.
  • After the allotted support weeks are used, participants may still attend camp with their own support person.
  • If required, participants are encouraged to bring their own assistive device, service animal or support person at no additional charge.

How do you know if your child needs additional support?

  • Extra support is required in the classroom.
  • A physical, medical, developmental and/or learning disability exists that could affect the safety of the participant or that of other participants.
  • The participant is currently associated with a support agency or program.
  • The participant has a safety plan with their education institution.

*If you align with one or more of these statements and wish to have your child participant in summer camp, please consider completing the Inclusion Support request form.

Support Person or Animal

You may provide your own support person or animal. We welcome support persons or animals who assist participants living with disabilities or additional needs. Support persons or animals are chosen by the participant to provide assistance as required. There are no additional fees charged for support persons or animals.

To ensure the safety and positive experience for all participants, we ask that support persons adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Have the maturity and knowledge to make decisions and sound judgment relating to the participant’s wellbeing and care.
  • Not leave the program/program area with the participant unless permission is received from parent/guardian.
  • Adapt and modify programming for the participant.

To ensure a safe and positive experience for all participants, we ask that support/service animals:

  • Be individually trained to carry out tasks for a person with a disability or support their general health or wellbeing
  • Support animals to be identified by a vest or harness
