Transportation Demand Management Community Grant Program

2026 Intake: February 9 to March 9, 2026

Welcome to the Greater Sudbury Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Community Grant Program!

This program supports local ideas that help people move differently — and more sustainably — around our city. By reducing reliance on single-occupant vehicle trips and encouraging walking, cycling, transit, carpooling, and other sustainable options, the TDM Community Grant Program helps build a healthier, more connected, and more vibrant Greater Sudbury.

If your organization has an idea that inspires people to rethink how they travel, this grant can help bring it to life.

About Transportation Demand Management (TDM)

Transportation Demand Management (TDM) focuses on making better use of our transportation system — not just building more roads. Through education, incentives, programs, and community-led initiatives, TDM reduces congestion, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, improves air quality, and supports active, healthy lifestyles.

By shifting trips away from single-occupant vehicles and toward sustainable options, TDM contributes to safer streets, stronger communities, and a more resilient transportation system for everyone.

The TDM Community Grant Program

Established following the adoption of the Transportation Demand Management Plan for Greater Sudbury by City Council in February 2018, the TDM Community Grant Program provides funding to eligible non-profit and community organizations for projects that support TDM goals at the local level.

Projects funded through this program help test new ideas, build awareness, and encourage long-term behaviour change across the community.

Program Objectives

Funded projects must align with one or more of the following objectives:

  • Reduce single-occupant vehicle trips and encourage more sustainable travel choices

  • Increase opportunities for active and sustainable transportation, while building community engagement and civic pride

  • Support the implementation of TDM recommendations and deliver positive, city-wide impacts
