Unacceptable Items

Our mission is to reduce the amount of material that ends up in our landfill. Sort your waste to make sure that you are not throwing out recyclable items! 

We do not accept:

  • any quantity of dangerous, hazardous, toxic or pathological waste;
  • manure;
  • any waste in semi-liquid or liquid form;
  • dead animals (certain provisions available. Call for details);
  • soil, rocks, asphalt or granular materials (may be accepted under prescribed conditions. Call for details);
  • asbestos waste (will accept under prescribed conditions. Call for details);
  • waste generated from outside the boundaries of the City of Greater Sudbury;
  • any other item deemed unacceptable by the General Manager

Please Note:

  • All waste must be generated within City of Greater Sudbury limits.  
  • All waste delivered to the landfill sites may be salvaged by the landfill operating contractor. 
  • If you have confidential documents shred them or deliver them directly to a destruction or recycling facility.
