Tipping Fee Exemptions

If you live in a residential property with six units or less (low density residential properties) you can bring a maximum of 50 kg (110 pounds) of waste to the landfill per week without paying tipping fees.

The waste must be delivered by the owner in a private motor vehicle who lives in the residential dwelling.

  • A maximum of 50 kg (110 lbs) will be exempt of tipping fees per week
  • For loads of waste that weigh 100 kg (220 lbs) or less, a flat rate of $4.25 will be charged.
  • If you deliver a load of waste that is over 100 kg in a one-week period, the first 50 kg will be without tipping fees. Any remaining amount will be charged at the tipping fee rate per tonne.
  • Residents in this category that would rather deliver their furniture and appliances to the landfill site instead of placing roadside for collection (if eligible) can do so without tipping fees, but the gate fee will apply.
  • Want to deliver segregated items in one load? No problem – just go over the scale more than once to take advantage of lower fees. The more you separate, the less you pay!
  • Tracking of tipping fee exemptions will be based on vehicle licence plates and any other technique determined to be necessary to track and identify the source of the waste. If waste delivered exceeds the 50 kg (110 pounds) in a one-week period (Sunday to Saturday), and the fees were not assessed at the time of the delivery, the City may re-coup the fees and associated administration cost.
