Will collection of garbage every other week not result in increased odours?
Residential and non-residential roadside waste collection services will be rescheduled. Please do not place garbage, green carts or blue boxes at the roadside, as this may impact road clearing efforts. Alternate pickup dates will be communicated once available. We will provide an update once bulky item collection service has been restored.
Due to the winter storm event, furniture, appliance and electronic collection services are also temporarily suspended. Please do not place these items at the roadside, in laneways or on top of snowbanks, as they may impact snow clearing operations.
New Green Cart requests have also been suspended.
All landfill sites and the Recycling Centre are closed.
If you fully participate in the weekly Green Cart organics collection program, this change will not result in increased odours. Diverting your food scraps and non-recyclable paper products in your Green Cart, will remove the most odorous part of your garbage. Residents who use their Green Carts have less garbage, odours and wildlife problems.
Special support programs are available for children’s diapers, medical circumstances, pet waste and approved animal resistant waste storage containers.
