What is a medical emergency?

An ambulance should always be called in the case of a medical emergency. A medical emergency can be classified by the following:

  • Loss of consciousness 
  • Head injuries
  • Stroke symptoms 
    • sudden headaches 
    • vision problems
    • weakness
    • difficulties speaking
    • dizziness
    • numbness
    • and/or tingling in the arm, face or leg
  • Heart attack symptoms 
    • persistent chest pains or tightness
  • Having difficulty breathing/choking
  • Drug overdose
  • Possible broken bones
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Drowning
  • Unexpected seizure 
  • Serious burns
