Become a Paramedic

City of Greater Sudbury Paramedics are certified to administer numerous medications and perform controlled medical acts for patients with acute injuries or illnesses. Our staff includes primary care paramedics, advanced care paramedics and community paramedics.

Primary Care Paramedics

Primary care paramedics can administer 15 different types of medications and perform eight different procedures/ controlled medical acts. They can be recognized by the one stripe on their shoulder epaulettes.

Advanced Care Paramedics

Advanced care paramedics have a larger scope of practice than primary care paramedics. They can administer 26 different types of medications and perform 16 different procedures/medically controlled acts. They can be recognized by the two stripes on their shoulder epaulettes.

Community Paramedics

Our Community Paramedics receive additional training to participate in our Community Paramedicine programs.

Local Paramedic Programs

Paramedic programs are offered at many colleges in Ontario including Sudbury’s Cambrian College, Collège Boréal, and CTS Canadian Career College.
