Noisy Pets
Sometimes pet owners are not aware that their dog or cat is disturbing others. When possible, neighbours are encouraged to speak to each other in a respectful manner to resolve the issue.
Report a Noisy Pet
If speaking with the pet owner is not successful or not possible, you can make a complaint to By-law Compliance and Enforcement Services.
Noisy Pet Investigations
- If an investigation shows that excessive noise is ongoing and not an occasional occurrence, the pet owner will be informed of the complaint.
- The name of the person submitting the complaint will remain confidential, unless they are required to testify as a witness in court.
- Pet owners receiving their first complaint will have a reasonable chance to resolve unwanted noise. Many excellent resources are available to help pet owners, including local classes, trainers, books and online education.
- If persistent noise continues, the pet owner may face a fine.
