Update to GOVA Zone Service Takes Effect July 1

Jun 26, 2026

The City of Greater Sudbury is improving the rider experience for GOVA Zone users. Beginning July 1, GOVA Zone will transition from taxi style vehicles to GOVA Zone Plus branded minivans operated by uniformed drivers. This update will make vehicles easier to recognize and improve consistency for riders.

GOVA Zone and GOVA Plus will also begin using the same app on July 1. Through the GOVA Zone Plus app, riders will have the option to book rides using their smartphones, tablets and computers.
You can still book by phone, but the app adds flexibility and convenience. For more information on the app, visit www.greatersudbury.ca/gova-zone-plus-app.

This update does not reduce GOVA Plus service. GOVA Plus remains dedicated to specialized transit needs and continues to operate with the same standards of accessibility and support. This transition is part of the City’s broader goal of moving toward a more integrated on-demand transit model that aligns GOVA Zone and GOVA Plus services.
