City Accepting Nominations for 2026 Civic Awards
Jan 13, 2026
The City of Greater Sudbury is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Civic Awards. If you know a volunteer who makes our community stronger, this is your chance to recognize them.
For 25 years, the Civic Awards have honoured individuals and groups whose leadership and dedication make a meaningful impact in Greater Sudbury. This year’s milestone aligns with the United Nations’ International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development. To mark the occasion, the 2026 Civic Awards features new award categories that reflect the diverse ways volunteers contribute to our community.
Residents are invited to nominate local individuals or groups in the following categories:
• Arts and Culture
• Community Service
• Compassionate Care
• Environmental Stewardship
• Francophone Community Engagement
• Heritage Preservation
• New Sudburian Contribution
• Outstanding Older Adult (55+)
• Outstanding Youth (18 and under)
• Recreation, Sport and Leisure
• Spirit of Reconciliation
“Volunteers are the heart of Greater Sudbury,” said Greater Sudbury Mayor Paul Lefebvre. “Their generosity, passion and commitment shape the kind of community we are proud to call home. I invite residents to honour these remarkable individuals and groups by submitting a nomination for the Civic Awards.”
Nomination forms are available at www.greatersudbury.ca/civicawards or at any branch of the Greater Sudbury Public Library (including Citizen Service Centres). The deadline to submit a nomination is Monday, March 2, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.
The 2026 Civic Awards ceremony will take place during National Volunteer Week, on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Dowling Leisure Centre.
